CBD Oil Break Down

CBD Oil Facts

CBD Oil FactsThe compound in marijuana called CBD or cannabidiol is receiving a lot of attention from researchers lately for its potential medicinal properties.
Previously, most people had only heard of THC, which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol. It is the chemical ingredient in weed that is responsible for getting users high. CBD, on the other hand, does not seem to have that same effect, as studies are finding out.

While that “getting high” aspect that THC provides makes it fun in the eyes of recreational users, it interests doctors that CBD has much fewer side effects in comparison. It doesn’t alter the mind and thus can be potentially safer in high doses.

The compound CBD can be enhanced in marijuana using specific breeding techniques. CBD does not have the psychological effects of THC because it doesn’t pass through the same pathways (known as CB1 receptors).

While CBD does pass through different pathways than THC, they do both appear to have the same medical benefits. CBD is an antipsychotic so that it can aid psychosis disorders. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a tool for people suffering from inflammatory disorders, and it has anti-depressant properties that make it advantageous for people with anxiety and depressive disorders.

Researchers are looking into the potentially positive effects of CBD on breast cancer too. A team of investigators at the California Medical Center will likely soon start trials on CBD as a therapy for breast cancer sufferers.

Also, studies appear to show that CBD counteracts the sleep-inducing effects of THC. It can also lower the memory issues and paranoia effects that seem to accompany THC use.

However, CBD is still against the law; it is a Schedule I drug in the US. CBD does show potential for medicinal use though so perhaps it will become part of treatments for inflammatory issues and neurodegenerative ailments shortly.
