Cannabidiol in Cannabis
In cannabis, there are about 85 active cannabinoids that have been identified to date. One of these cannabinoids is CBD. Of all of the phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids that naturally occur in the cannabis plan), CBD is a huge one, comprising about 40 percent of the plant’s extract. In addition to cannabidiol, tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is also a major part of the plant.

Effects of CBD on the Body
Unlike THC, CBD does not result in a high. The reason it is not psychoactive is because it lacks attraction to CB1 receptors, which exist in large amounts in the human brain. CB1 receptors are the pathways of action for THC, which results in an intoxicated or high feeling in the user.
Cannabis with THC and CBD is still psychoactive. But, medical users typically use strains with higher CBD levels than THC levels to lower potential risks.

Researchers have found that cannabidiol has powerful medical properties, including:
